Aurora was appointed by GSYS to carry out a series of power system studies for a new greenfield oil extraction facility development in Kurdistan, Iraq. Aurora began by reviewing the initial site documentation and detail design deliverables before creating a model of the system in ETAP for validation by the Client. Once complete a full suite of studies were carried out to assess the system operation, including: Loadflow, Short Circuit, Motor Starting, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonics and Transient Stability. In addition Aurora provided support in numerous aspects of the system design including CT sizing calculations, advice on Earthing configuration and configuration of the various protection relays.
