Part ofmorsonPRAXISNetworks must clear faults quickly and safely without nuisance tripping. We grade protection across the system and quantify arc-flash energy to keep people and plant safe.
Protection has to clear faults fast enough to protect plant and people, yet stay selective so that only the faulted section trips and the rest of the site keeps running. We grade overcurrent and earth-fault relays across the whole network, design differential schemes for transformers, cables and busbars, and check that CTs and settings will actually perform under fault.
Alongside coordination we calculate arc-flash incident energy to IEEE 1584, setting safe working distances and PPE categories and labelling switchgear accordingly. The two go hand in hand — faster protection usually means lower arc-flash energy — so we treat them as one exercise, working in ETAP and PowerFactory from LV up to EHV.
