CDEGS Earthing Studies – Aurora were appointed by Aptus Utilities to carry out a series of earthing studies for several different sites, using the CDEGS earthing design software. Aurora’s role for the projects included arranging a soil resistivity survey to be carried out, obtaining the relevant fault information from the DNO, and then modelling the system within CDEGS using the RESAP, FCDIST and MALT modules. Once the modelling had been carried out, Aurora prepared a detailed technical report and earthing layout drawing, indicating the key findings and suitable locations for the earthing materials.
As part of the projects Aurora were able to identify which sites were Hot / Cold, and various mitigation strategies and measures necessary to achieve an acceptable touch and step voltage profile across the site.
