Earthing Study and Protection Study

Aurora was commissioned by Clancy Consulting to carry out an HV cable sizing study, protection coordination study and an overall earthing study for development of a new science building at Culham Science park. The protection coordination study assesed the system overcurrent and earth faults from the new DNO supply, to the three RMUs and associated LV switchboards. The earthign design adn study initially carried out a soil resistivity survey for the site, before assessing the Earth Potential Rise (EPR) and the touch and step voltages on the system should an HV fault occur, as well as considering the sphere of influence of the nearby 400kV substation.
