Aurora was appointed by EirGrid to undertake a detailed electrical safety investigation into operation and isolation of a 275kV substation and HVDC link, after a safety concern was raised in relation to a planned Energy Management System (EMS) upgrade.
Aurora examined the current legal requirement and operating procedures of Northern Ireland Electricity and undertook a series of structured interviews to identify possible operating scenarios where a failure could occur. Aurora then produced a detailed report and fault tree diagram, using a series of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques, to identify all potential scenarios that could lead to a risk to personnel, and ultimately concluded that the system was satisfactory and no significant safety concern was present.
Please contact Aurora if you require a detailed electrical safety investigation.
